Lawler to retire in July

UFC President Dana White has announced that the former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler July 8 at UFC 290 will hold his farewell fight. Opposing the 41-year-old "Ruthless" at the tournament in Las Vegas will be Niko Price.

“Robbie Lawler will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Famer with Rory MacDonald on July 7, and he will fight Nico Price on July 8.

Robbie, the former UFC and Strikeforce champion, never had a boring fight. I found Lawler when he was 19 years old, and at UFC 290 he will have the final fight of his incredible 22-year career,” White said.

Recall that Lawler has not appeared in the octagon since July last year, when he lost by technical knockout to Brian Barbarena.
