Speculation appeared in the media that the Mexican could return to the idea of fighting for the WBC world heavyweight title, which he has owned since February badu jack (28-3-3, 17 KOs). Alvarez had previously received the go-ahead from the WBC to take part in a title fight in that weight class.
Last year, Canelo was going to fight Ilunga Makabu, but the meeting ended up not taking place. At the moment, Alvarez owned championship belts in four weight categories. A boxer from Mexico has four titles in the weight category up to 76 kilograms.
