Bivol: Why would I give Alvarez a light heavyweight rematch?

Revenge between Saul Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KOs) and Dmitry Bivol (21-0, 11 KOs) is tentatively scheduled for September 16. However, it is not yet clear whether the Russian will give Canelo a chance to recoup last year's defeat.

Bivol, at least lip service, has no interest in fighting the Mexican at light heavyweight because, he claims, he prefers to fight for Alvarez's super middleweight belts.

“I fought Canelo at light heavyweight and beat him there, so now I want to take a chance and fight him at super middleweight – that would be the motivation for me to fight for all the super middleweight titles. Why would I give him a light heavyweight rematch? What motivation would that be for me? I already beat him once,” Dimitri Bivol said in an interview with ESPN.
