At the press conference after UFC 288, the rising star Sean O'Malley shared his thoughts on the victory Aljamain Sterling above Henry Cejudo and discussed his upcoming title fight against the victor.
âI thought Henry was leading 3-1 before the fifth round,â OâMalley admitted, expressing his surprise at the final result. âHonestly, I was very surprised by Alho's victory. I thought Henry did what he had to do."
Even though he preferred the Cejudo fight, O'Malley remains confident in his chances against Sterling. "I thought Henry was the best stylistic contender, but I also just really wanted to slap this little dude," he remarked. âBut here we are. I'll just beat Aljo by staying focused, disciplined and using straight punches."
Discussing the highly anticipated Sugar Era, O'Malley said, "It all starts with Aljo. I am so excited. My motivation doesn't run out." He also confirmed his readiness to fight in New York and expects the fight to take place sooner rather than later. "Aljo has no choice, he will fight sooner rather than later," O'Malley insisted.
When asked about Sterling's wrestling skills, O'Malley expressed confidence in his abilities. âStyles create matches. I think that it will be very difficult to catch me, and it will be a very interesting fight, âhe concluded.
