Absolute World Lightweight Champion Devin Haney stated that he had been trying to get a fight against Vasily Lomachenko.
“This is the fight I've always wanted since I was 19 or 20. I called Loma when he seemed invincible, when he was called the matrix, the first number of the pound-for-pound rating, and so on. I challenged him, but he went the way of the franchise championship. However, people said that I was just bluffing, that I really didn't want to fight him.
But all this shows how much I really wanted to fight him, because at this stage of my career I am not obliged to fight Lomachenko, but I chose him as my opponent. It shows that I don't just call fighters, I fight them," Haney said in an interview with Fight Hype.
Recall that the fight between Haney and Lomachenko will take place on May 20 in Las Vegas.
