In February Oscar Valdes (30-1, 23 KOs) should have faced Emanuel Navarrete (37-1, 31 KOs), but was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury. Valdez was the world featherweight and super featherweight champion, but he lost the title last April Shakur Stevenson and has since taken a break from speaking.

The Mexican is expected to return to the ring on May 20 on the undercard of the fight between Vasily Lomachenko and Devin Haney.

It is not yet known who the Mexican will be, but he received a promise from the Top Rank management that if he wins and is not injured, he will meet Navarrete for the WBO belt in the weight category up to 59 kg.
