Garcia plans to fight for the title in his third weight in the spring

Negotiations are underway to conclude a contract for a fight between Danny Garcia (37-3, 21 KOs) and interim WBC welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora (20-0-1, 13 KOs). The bout is scheduled to take place in the spring at an evening hosted in the US.

In July, Garcia returned to the ring after a year and a half break, making his debut in the category up to 69 kilograms. The former super lightweight and welterweight champion beat Jose Benavidez Jr. on points.

Fundora has been the World Boxing Council interim champion since April and last boxed in October. The full WBC champion in this weight limit is Jermell Charlo.
