On May 20, the fight for the title of absolute lightweight champion between Vasily Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) and Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs). George Kambosos Jr. (20-2, 10 KOs), from whom Haney took three belts out of four, shared his opinion about the favorite of this confrontation.
Last year, it was Lomachenko who was supposed to become the rival of Kambosos, the then WBA, IBF and WBO world champion, but the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine led to the fact that Lomachenko abandoned the planned fight. Instead, Haney went against the Australian and, after two wins on points, added three more titles to the WBC belt.
Lomachenko's duel with Haney has not yet been officially confirmed, but on May 20 it was mentioned several times in the media and in statements by promoter Bob Arum.
“Style defines a fight, and Haney's style doesn't suit Lomachenko. I think Haney will win with his style, but then leave all the titles vacant and move up to super lightweight. I like Lomachenko both as a person and as a boxer, but his time has passed. For the age Lomachenko, Haney will be too big and too strong, ”Kambosos said.
