Former World Heavyweight Champion Bermain Stivern (25-6-1, 21 KOs) lost by unanimous decision Jonathan Guidry (19-1-2, 11 KOs) in the main event of the evening hosted by Don King in Miami.
After ten rounds, the judges scored the meeting 97-93 and twice 100-91. For Stiverne, it was an unfortunate return to the ring after a two-year hiatus and probably one of his last professional appearances.
At the top of the WBA rankings, Guidry won his second fight in a row after losing last year to Trevor Bryan. The main event of the evening was supposed to be a fight for the WBC cruiserweight title between Ilunga Makabu and Noel Gevor, but this fight was ultimately canceled.
