At the age of thirty-five Rocky Fielding (30-3, 18 KOs), former super middleweight world champion, announced his retirement. In fairness, it should be noted that the boxer from Liverpool actually owned a secondary WBA "regular" champion belt. He got it thanks to an away win over Tyrone Tsoige (TKO 5), but lost it in the first defense to Saul Alvarez.
Fielding's decision to hang up his gloves was likely prompted by his last fight loss to Dan Aziz late last year. Rocky has victories against fighters such as Brian Vera, Christopher Rebrass and John Ryder on his resume.
“I dreamed of fighting in the famous Madison Square Garden and having Michael Buffer represent me in the ring. It all came true. Today I want to announce my retirement. I started training at the age of nine, so I've been in boxing for over a quarter of a century. It's time to live without boxing," Fielding said.
