Shakur Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs) and Shuichiro Yoshino (16-0, 12 KOs) agreed on the conditions for holding a qualifying match for the WBC lightweight world title. The winner will become the official challenger for Devin Haney, who, in addition to the World Boxing Council belt, also holds titles from three other organizations.
The fight will take place on April 8 at an evening organized by Top Rank in the USA. Stevenson last fought in September, winning on points against Robson Conceicao.
Previously, the American was the world champion in featherweight and second featherweight. His potential fight against Yoshino would be his official lightweight debut.
