WBC President Mauricio Suleiman told Telegraph Sport that the WBC will allow transgender boxing matches in a new separate category in 2023.

“We will never allow a transgender man born to fight a woman, but we will create rules so that transgender boxing can also exist,” Suleiman said. - In 2023, we are going to make a global appeal to those who are interested in this and create appropriate protocols. We will start with consultations and most likely create a separate league or tournament. It's time to do it, and we're doing it for safety and inclusion. We have been leaders in the rules of women's boxing and we will not allow men to fight women."
