According to the police, Gervonta Davis beat a woman in Florida on Tuesday afternoon, hitting her with a "closed hand" and leaving an abrasion on the inside of her upper lip. Police set out the charges against the star boxer in court documents, according to which the 28-year-old fighter "deliberately held and hit" a woman "against her will" and "intentionally caused her bodily harm."
Police say Davis hit the woman on the right side of her head with a "covered hand." The woman had a facial injury, but she was able to leave the house after a quarrel. Davis was arrested about an hour after the alleged incident and charged with domestic violence.
Davis was released on $1,000 bail after being under arrest for one night.
Davis is scheduled to take on Hector Luis Garcia in a highly anticipated boxing match on January 7 in Washington, DC.
