Lopez defeated Martin by split decision

Former Undisputed Lightweight Champion Teofimo Lopez (18-1, 13 KOs) won by split decision over Sandor Martin (40-3, 13 KOs) in a super lightweight bout that was the main event of Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Martin's nose was constantly bleeding heavily after he apparently broke it in the first round after a headbutt. In the second round, with a short right side, Martin scored a flash knockdown. Despite this, Lopez continued to constantly move forward, and Martin worked as number two and constantly moved. As a result, the judges counted 95-94 in favor of Martin, 97-92 and 96-93 - Lopez.
