Information has been officially confirmed that a fight will take place on January 21 between Chris Eubank Jr. (32-2, 23 KOs) and Liam Smith (32-3-1, 19 KOs). The fight will be the main event of the boxing evening organized in Manchester. The event will be shown in the UK via pay-per-view.
Eubank, 33, was scheduled to cross gloves with Conor Benn in October. The fight was canceled after it was revealed that Benn had recently tested positive twice for doping.
Smith, who was a welterweight world champion last year, has two fights this year. He last fought in September, defeating Hassan Mwakinho by TKO.
As part of the same evening, a fight will take place between Richard Riakpore (15-0, 11 KOs) and former two-time world heavyweight champion Krzysztof Głowacki (32-3, 20 KOs). Previously, Eubank's fight with Smith and the whole evening in Manchester were planned for December 17th.
