WBO International Champion Denis Berinchik is with his team in Montenegro, where he is preparing for a fight with an experienced Frenchman Ivan Mendy (47-5-1, 22 KOs). The bout is scheduled for December 3 on the Fury-Chissora undercard, and Mendy's EBU European Lightweight Championship is on the line.
Denis's coach Egor Golub in an interview with luckypunch.net spoke about the training camp and the Ukrainian's plans for the fight.
“In general, training is going well, thank God, no injuries. We train according to the schedule. We are in Montenegro, where the weather conditions are different from ours, the first 3 weeks were very warm. Now the weather is changing, rain, thunderstorms. But we have already done all the main work. We can say that we have reached the finish line in the training process," Golub said.
“The opponent is experienced, he has a lot of fights behind him, so we are gearing up for all 12 rounds. Of course, if there is an opportunity to end the fight earlier, we will do it.”
“Among our sparring partners there are both professional boxers and top athletes from the Ukrainian Olympic team. One of them is world champion Yuri Zakhareev. We selected fighters similar in anthropometry, repeating the movements of our opponent. As you have seen, sometimes even I have to spar with Denis.”
"Our goal is to bring a new title to Ukraine - the EBU European Champion and move on to the world title," said Yegor Golub.
