A tender is scheduled for November 15 to select the organizer of the fight for the vacant IBF world title in super lightweight between Subriel Mathias (18-1, 18 KOs) and Jeremias Ponce (30-0, 20 KOs).
The fight was scheduled for October 15 a few weeks ago, but Mathias posted on social media that he was having trouble getting his US visa. The fight was supposed to be part of the Premier Boxing Champions evening in New York.
Previously, this title belonged to Josh Taylor, but the Scot left it vacant, refusing to hold a mandatory defense. For Mathias and Ponce, this will be the first opportunity in their professional careers to become champions.
