Former world champion and boxing analyst Paul Malignaggi thinks that Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) will do anything to fight the undisputed world champion in the lightweight division, an American Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs).
“Yesterday, Lomachenko said that he was ready to pay all financial compensation to Haney just to get this fight. But these are all just formalities, because I believe that Lomachenko is going to accept this fight on any terms. These will be very, very favorable terms for Haney.
Devin deserves this in many ways, because, as he mentioned, he went through a lot to get these titles, even in a situation with the same Kambosos. But you can't show that to Lomachenko because Vassily agreed to the same terms to fight George, but in the end he had to pull out of the fight.
Still, Haney has to set realistic terms because he's going to face a fighter who has become world champion in three different weight divisions. Devin needs to understand who he is fighting,” Malignaggi was quoted by Boxing News 24.
