Chandler apologized for the words about Makhachev

Former Bellator Champion and former UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler apologized for criticism of Islam Makhachev.

Earlier, the American repeatedly stated that Makhachev undeservedly received a fight for the vacant title, since he did not defeat any of the top fighters of the division.

“Islam proved that he was who he claimed to be. I was wrong, so I apologize and take my words back. He is our champion and I hope we can meet him in the octagon after I win on November 12 and get my title shot,” Chandler said in an interview with MMA on Point.

Recall that on October 22 at the UFC 280 tournament, Makhachev defeated Charles Oliveira by choke and won the vacant title. Chandler himself will fight Dustin Poirier on November 12 at UFC 281.
