Hearn sees Fury vs. Charr as an absolute mismatch, as many consider Fury to be the best heavyweight in the world. If Fury vs. Joshua talks fail, Hearn would prefer Fury to fight someone like the undefeated Joe Joyce.
Both Fury and Joyce are under contract with Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions, which greatly facilitates possible negotiations. Last month in Manchester, Joyce knocked out former WBO world champion Joseph Parker in the eleventh round.
“I just opened Instagram and saw that he called out Manuel Charr again,” Hearn said in an interview with Dubai Eye. “He calls him out like he’s a guy who is a real, trustworthy heavyweight. "You are the one, Manuel, you have courage." This is a guy who doesn't even have a rating. It's an incredible mismatch and if he doesn't want to fight AJ, why shouldn't he fight Joe Joyce? It's ready and they have the same promotional company."
Joshua is looking to bounce back after suffering two consecutive losses to unified world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. Joyce is the mandatory challenger for Usyk in the WBO line.
