Usyk: "I dream of fighting Fury in Kyiv"

IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk for the first time after the victory over Anthony Joshua spoke with Ukrainian journalists in Kyiv. The boxer admitted that he is happy to return home after 5 months of training camp.

“I am glad to return to Ukraine, thank God with a victory. I have three main heavyweight belts in my collection, but I really want one more WBC. Where is he? The gypsies stole it, some kind of king,” Oleksandr Usyk hinted at a possible unification fight against Tyson Fury. “I dream of a fight at Olympiysky. Although I think that now it is unrealistic. Even if everything is calm in Kyiv, he does not want to come here, he feels that here the countryman gives strength, here even our gypsies will be for me, and not for him, perhaps if we hold a second fight, then it will take place in Kyiv. It will be necessary to promise him something for this.

“Joshua was focused, he wanted to catch me on the counterattack. He threw power punches, wanted to take my breath away, hit me on the torso. He hit a little lower, in the groin, - the Ukrainian commented on the fight against Anthony. - It was not easy, but I understood that you can’t give up, you can’t stop. I understood that it was not as hard for me as for some guys on the front line. After the 9th round, I asked: “Which round?”. I say to the coach: “Start?”. He says: "Begin." Anthony pulled himself very hard before that, it's good that everything happened like that.

“If there is no fight with Fury, then perhaps we will agree on a third fight with Joshua. But already at the "Olympic".

During a boxing evening in Jeddah, the Usyk Foundation raised UAH 17 million to purchase cars for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“The fund has been operating since February 24. We all planned to launch a charity project for a long time, but when the war started, we realized that we should help the Armed Forces of Ukraine and IDPs, everyone who helps Ukraine. A large team is working with me, and we will do everything in our power to help people affected by the war, ”Usyk said.

“As for the funds raised during the fight, they will be spent on cars for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, drones, thermal imagers and other things that the guys need. We also plan to purchase food packages. The fund’s website has all the reports on our expenses, so everything can be checked,” added Usyk.
