Costa underwent surgery on his hand

Former UFC middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa underwent surgery on his hand after his fight against Luke Rockhold at UFC 278.

The Brazilian won by unanimous decision, but suffered a serious hand injury during the fight - he broke one of his metacarpal bones.

In his last interview, 31-year-old Costa said he planned to fight in two months, but now he expects to return on January 21 at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro.
