The longtime mentor of former UFC bantamweight champion Jose Aldo, Andre Pederneiras, denied that his mentee decided to end his career after his fight with Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278.
The Georgian fighter said earlier, citing the Brazilian's words after the fight.
"I've heard many times that fighters want to leave the sport, and a couple of days later they were back in action. I'm sure nothing has changed unless Jose brings it up soon.
Sometimes emotions get the better of us, so it's okay to say such things. I'd like to take a look at champions who will also remain in the top five of the rankings at his age. Most of the fighters with such achievements leave at his age, but Jose keeps winning," Ag Fight quotes the specialist as saying.
Recall, Dvalishvili defeated Aldo on August 21 at UFC 278 by unanimous decision of the judges.
