“I have been watching Usyk since Olympic boxing,” said Thomas Carty (3-0, 2 KOs), sparring partner Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) before the rematch with Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs).

The day before, a list of eight left-handed boxers appeared who are trying to imitate the Ukrainian and help Josh prepare for September 20th. One of them is Irishman Thomas Carty.

“I have always had a good boxing base, I learned how to strike correctly and I am very mobile, as for such a big boxer. And with age, I began to hit harder. I have developed an interesting style for my fans,” says Carty.

“What makes Usyk so good and efficient is his incredible mobility and footwork. But he also has amazing technique, one of the best in heavyweight history. And at the same time, he boxes in a left-handed stance, which further complicates the task of his rivals, ”said Usyk, sparring partner Joshua.

“I carefully watched Usyk vs Tony Bellew. I noticed that he repeated one action, which I then began to use in sparring. And it immediately started working. Because even if I manage to imitate him a little, it brings results. In any case, we have the same dimensions, and I tried to imitate him, starting with amateurs, ”added Carty.
