Wednesday is the deadline the WBA has given to camps Gilberto Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs) and Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) to negotiate a fight for the world light heavyweight title. The Russian is the owner of the belt of the World Boxing Association, and the Mexican is the official contender for the title.
In mid-July, the boxers were given 30 days to negotiate on this issue, but the chances of an agreement are slim. After August 10, the WBA will set a promotional bidding date.
Recently, Matchroom Boxing tried to take Bivol to fight Joshua Buatsi, but Ramirez is obviously against such a scenario, as he does not want to wait for his championship chance.
