Hearn wants to organize an Okoli-Makabu unification fight

Eddie Hearn announced that he had reached an agreement with Lawrence Okoli (18-0, 14 KOs) on the fulfillment of the contract. The 29-year-old boxer has one more fight for Matchroom Boxing, and then he will probably sign a contract with another promotional organization.

“We invested a lot of money in Lawrence and lost a lot on him too. However, I thought it was a good investment because he is a valuable person and a boxer with great potential. He definitely owes us a lot, and we'll see what the future holds for us," Hearn said.

Recently, Okoli received an offer from the promotional organization BOXXER, who wanted to take him to a fight with Richard Riakporch. The boxer, undefeated in the professional ring, does not hide the fact that next year he can also move to the heavyweight category.

“We will try to make the last fight under the current contract a unification fight with another champion. We are checking the possibilities and it seems that the most likely fight for us will be with Ilunga Makabu, the owner of the WBC belt. After that, Okoli will decide whether to renew our contract.
