Mauricio Suleiman never hid his sympathy for Saul Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs). And even after defeat Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) the head of the WBC has a lot of words to support his compatriot.

“This is life, you win once, you lose once,” Suleiman said in an interview with The Herald. “It’s important to deal with adversity, accept failure, and have the maturity to move on.”

“It was 2013 when Saul entered the ring with Floyd Mayweather Jr. His character made him accept this challenge, but the result was negative - he lost and no longer had an impeccable record of no defeats, - recalled the president of the World Boxing Council. - Canelo accepted his defeat and rose after it. Together with his team, he made new ambitious plans, studied, matured as an athlete and person, and nine years later he reached the moment when he became the most important boxer in the world.

“Saul lost because he was looking for more and more dangerous challenges. He faced an undefeated heavyweight opponent, nothing to be ashamed of. I am sure that he will rest now, think everything over, calm down and return to his place. He still has something to offer Mexico, boxing and himself, ”Suleiman concluded.

Saul Alvarez had a rematch clause in the contract for the fight with Dmitry Bivol in case of defeat. However, it is not known whether Canelo would prefer to face Gennady Golovkin in September or to face Bivol in the super-middleweight limit, as suggested by the Russian himself.
