Former World Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz prefers Oleksandr Usyk in the upcoming rematch with Anthony Joshua, the date of which is scheduled for July. In September last year, Usyk outboxed Joshua and won the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles.
Ruiz is well acquainted with Joshua from 2019, when he shocked the world by sending Joshua to the floor four times, winning a stoppage victory and winning the heavyweight belts. But six months later in Dubai, Joshua took revenge and regained the titles.
Most boxing fans believe that Joshua made a big mistake trying to outbox Usyk, whose boxing technique is considered by many to be one of the best in the world. If Joshua wants to take revenge, Ruiz advises him to go forward from the very beginning of the fight.
“I think Joshua will be fine. I think he needs to go ahead and be aggressive like he's been since the beginning of his career," Ruiz said in an interview with ES News. “You can’t let him dictate the fight. While he will apply pressure, throw combinations, he will not let Usyk settle in and deliver his small deft blows. I think he can win. But Usyk is a deeply religious person, and I will root for him."
