Taylor: "Everyone says I beat Catterall"

Jack Catterall (26-1, 13 KOs) lost at the end of February Josh Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs), the absolute world champion in super lightweight. The verdict of the judges was considered very controversial by most boxing fans, but the Scot still insists that he deserved the victory.

“I still think I did enough to beat Catterall. I watched the fight several times. My first impression was that it was a very close fight and the verdict could be either way. My score today is still 113-112 in my favor, but I understand why many people think that Jack won, ”said Taylor, who explained the opinion of his critics by saying that many rounds were difficult to evaluate.

“A draw would also be a fair verdict, as would Jack's victory. This is one of those fights that deserve a separate verdict, ”added the Scot.

In the course of the fight with Taylor, Catterall made the best impression, and in the eighth round he was able to send the enemy to the floor. Ultimately, however, the judges scored Taylor 114-111 and 113-112, and Catterall 113-112, declaring the Scot a split decision.
