IBF World Middleweight Champion Gennady Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs) arrived in Japan, where on April 9 he will have a unification fight with the owner of the WBA championship belt Ryota Murata (16-2, 3 KOs). Now the boxer from Kazakhstan and his team will be in quarantine for several days.
GGG has not boxed since the fight with Kamil Szeremeta in December 2020. The duel with Murata was originally scheduled for December, but the event was postponed due to the closure of the borders by the Japanese authorities. On the evening of boxing, which will be held in Saitama, Golovkin will be the only foreign boxer.
The organizers also scheduled four more fights for the evening. Japanese fans will see, among other things, the fight for the WBO flyweight belt between Yunto Nakatani and Ryota Tamauchi and the fight for the WBO Asia Pacific lightweight belt between Shiuichiro Yoshino and Masayuki Ito.
