Eddie Hearn, WBC Lightweight Champion Promoter Devina Haney, works day after day to reach an agreement to fight the IBF, WBO, WBA and WBC "franchise" champion George Kambosos. Kambosos captured the unified crown last year with a surprise victory Teofimo Lopez the decision of the judges.

Three division champion Vasily Lomachenko was the main contender for the meeting with Kambosos. However, that scenario has now been shelved as Lomachenko is back in his home country of Ukraine helping his compatriots resist the ongoing Russian occupation.

In this situation, Hearn seeks to secure a fight with Kambosos for Haney. The British promoter understands that time is certainly pressed, as Kambosos is set to fight in Australia in early June.

“We are going to give him all the options because we really want this fight and Devin has already said that this is the only fight he is focused on right now. The proposed date is June 4, so we have two or three weeks to agree on the fight, ”Hearn said in an interview with The Sun.

“At the same time, we do not want to rush. We are ready to wait until June, provided that we get a fight for the title of absolute champion. I hope we can agree on everything and announce it in the near future."

“Kambosos is the only enemy we are currently focused on. This is the meeting that will truly determine the absolute champion, and we are focused on it like no other, ”Haney said in turn in an interview with ES News.
