At Sergei Kovalev (34-4-1, 29 KOs) a new opponent appeared, which will be his first fight in 2.5 years. The former light heavyweight champion will fight the undefeated Tervel Pulev (16-0, 13 KOs), younger brother of former heavyweight contender Kubrat Pulev. The meeting is scheduled for 10 rounds and will be held in the first heavyweight division. The fight will be the main event of the Triller Fight Club boxing evening on May 14 at the Forum in Inglewood, California.

Tervel Pulev is 39 years old, and despite the fact that he has not yet lost in the pro ring, there are no particularly strong opponents on his track record. Kovalev turns 39 on April 2 and hasn't fought since his early loss to Canelo Alvarez in November 2019.

Kovalev was originally scheduled to fight China's Fanlong Meng in May, but the Chinese chose to fight another former world light heavyweight champion, Jean Pascal, in part because the Kovalev fight had not been officially announced. Fanlong agreed to fight Kovalev at a catchweight of 188 pounds, but will fight Pascal at 175 pounds, that is, the usual light heavyweight limit in which he performed throughout his seven-year professional career.
