Former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion Colby Covington spoke out in support Cain Velasquezaccused of attempted murder.

According to the American media, the 39-year-old ex-UFC heavyweight champion opened fire on a car in which there was a fighter suspected of molesting a close relative of the fighter. At the same time, the athlete missed and hit the alleged pedophile's stepfather.

"Free Kane! Many would have done the same in his place. Words cannot express how much I respect him. Each of us talks about what he would do with someone who harasses your child. He found himself in this position, and he did it.

I only feel respect and love for him. I hope he will be released from custody soon, ”Covington said at a press conference after UFC 272.

Velázquez faces a prison term of 20 years to life in prison if found guilty.
