Former world champion Thai veteran Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1, 43 KOs) was supposed to fight for the vacant WBC super flyweight title this Saturday, but fell ill with COVID-19. In this situation with the Mexican Carlos Cuadras (39-4-1, 27 KOs) in the main fight of the evening in Phoenix, an American will now meet Jessie Rodriguez (14-0, 10 KOs).

Rodriguez, 22, was supposed to fight Fernando Diaz on the same card, so he needs to be well prepared, especially since he is a very interesting and eager young boxer. In his last fight in October last year, Rodriguez knocked out Jose Alejandro Burgos.

On the other hand, Rodriguez's opponent on Saturday, former world champion Carlos Cuadras, 33, is a hardened fighter whose fights are always emotional. Cuadras' last fight, a championship loss at the hands of Juan Francisco Estrada, took place in October 2020. In 2021, Estrada left the WBC belt vacant and received the franchise title. Therefore, the form of Cuadras before the championship fight is a mystery.
