Eddie Hearn announced that one of the countries of the Middle East had received an offer to organize a fight for the title of absolute lightweight champion between George Kambosos (20-0, 10 KOs) and Devin Haney (27-0, 15 KOs). The duel should take place in May.
Kambosos, 28, has been holding the WBA, WBO, IBF and WBC franchise belts since November before showing interest in the offer. The Australian wants to box in his next appearance in front of his audience, and the fight should take place in one of the stadiums of his home country.
Haney is the full champion of the World Boxing Council in the weight category up to 61 kg. The American does not yet have a mandatory challenger, and he is free to choose the next opponent. Haney said he was ready to cross gloves with Kambosos regardless of the location of this fight.
