ESPN journalist Brett Okamoto tweeted that the former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway dropped out of a bout against the current title holder Alexandra Volkanovski which was scheduled for March 5th at UFC 272.
According to the source, the American aggravated the old injury in training and made the decision to withdraw from the fight. The UFC has not yet made any announcements regarding a substitution in the fight or postponing the meeting to a later date.
The fight between Volkanovski and Holloway was supposed to be the third for these fighters. Their first two fights took place in 2019 and 2020 - Volkanovski won by unanimous and split decision, respectively.
