Undefeated UFC Welterweight Prospect Khamzat Chimaev and Former Division Title Challenger Gilbert Burns agreed to hold the fight on April 9 at UFC 273 in Brooklyn. The fighters came to an agreement in private messages on Instagram.
"April 9?" wrote Chimaev.
“Let's go, brother,” Burns replied.
The 27-year-old (10-0) Chimaev fought his last fight on October 30 at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi, defeating Lee Jingliang by choke in the first round. Burns, 35, (20-4) has not made a cage appearance since last July when he defeated Stephen Thompson by unanimous decision.
In case of victory, Chimaev, who has gained immense popularity, can get a fight for the title, which is now owned by Kamaru Usman.
