According to Dan Raphael, the WBA is ready to sanction the scheduled January 29 fight between Trevor Brian (21-0, 15 KOs) and Jonathan Guidry (17-0-2, 10 KOs) as a "regular" world heavyweight title fight.

According to the American journalist, the World Boxing Association will agree to this on condition that the winner meets with Daniel Dubois (17-1, 16 KOs).

Dubois was previously a "interim" WBA champion, but as a result of the reforms of the Association, he was stripped of the title and received the status of a mandatory challenger.
