Teddy Atlas, the former coach of the former light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk, said that he takes responsibility for the defeat of the Ukrainian in a battle with Artur Beterbiev.
“When the right moment comes, Beterbiev has no doubts. So I take off my hat to him. He beat my fighter, so I know what I'm talking about. We knew how to fight. We won this fight before the tenth round. At that time, we were ahead on two judges' notes, this is a fact. But Beterbiev knew how to break us, and he broke us. He broke us physically and mentally. By the way, I take responsibility for this. I do it. But this does not mean that I cannot accept it, honestly talk about it and explain it the way Beterbiev deserves,” Teddy Atlas said on his podcast.
In October 2019 Beterbiev stopped Gvozdyk in the tenth round.
