Former Bellator Middleweight Champion Alexander Shlemenko supported the words of Vladimir Putin about transgender athletes.

On December 23, at a press conference, the President of Russia announced that women's sports would cease to exist if the trend of admitting gender-reassigned men to competitions continues.

“To be honest, I agree with Putin's opinion. A man is physically stronger than a woman. I don't know if there are such transgender people in MMA, but Putin is right - power, combat women's sports will definitely disappear. In rhythmic gymnastics and traditional female sports, transgender people will not be able to compete. And if we take wrestling, boxing and so on, then everything will be bad there," Shlemenko said.
