Former Heavyweight Champion Shannon Briggs (60-6-1, 53 KOs) rarely praises anyone other than himself, but admits that Tyson Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) may turn out to be the greatest heavyweight champion in history.
Briggs sat on the WBO throne at the turn of 2006 and 2007 and belonged to the world elite for two decades.
The King of the Gypsies are expected to return to the ring at the end of February or March at the latest. This is the deadline that Fury has set for his promoters Frank Warren and Bob Arum. This time Tyson has to show himself to his British fans. Potential candidates include two names - Dillian Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs) and Joe Joyce (13-0, 12 KOs).
“Fury suffers from long interruptions between fights. His biggest problem is inaction. But imagine Fury, with his technique and size, fighting Foreman or Lewis. It would be something. If in the next two years he defeats the six strongest opponents, we will all have to admit that he is the greatest heavyweight boxer in history,” said Briggs.
