Martinez knocks Galahad out, tooks his IBF title

35-year-old former IBF Bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez (43-10-2, 30 KOs) brutally knocked out in the sixth round the IBF featherweight champion and favorite in his hometown Kid Galahad (28-2, 17 KOs) in the main event of the evening at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, England.

Galahad won the first four rounds, but at the end of the fifth round missed a powerful right hand, which left him on the floor. Martinez entered the sixth round and in 6 seconds delivered another crushing right to the head, ending the meeting. Before the fight, Galahad was considered a 7-to-1 favorite, and for him this was his first title defense. On the eve Galahad had big problems with weight loss.

After the fight Martinez said: "It may come as a surprise to everyone, but not to me."
