Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov addressed Justin Gaethje who believes he should be the next title challenger in the division.
"You've been knocked out three times in your last eight fights, Justin. You had a chance to be champion, but you fell asleep. Islam has a streak of nine straight wins, three of them in 2021, all of them early. Just shut up and admit that Islam deserved the title fight, not you," Nurmagomedov wrote the comment on ESPN's Instagram page.
The current UFC lightweight champion is Charles Oliveira. On December 11 at UFC 269 in Las Vegas, the Brazilian will make his first title defense against Dustin Poirier.
