Jose Zepeda (35-2, 27 KOs) has been designated by the World Boxing Council (WBC) as the official challenger for the super lightweight title. The WBC belt in this weight class is held by the undisputed champion Josh Taylor (18-0, 13 KOs).
The Scotsman is set to return to the ring on February 26 when he faces Jack Catterall (26-0, 13 KOs). The Englishman is the official challenger for the WBO belt, which also belongs to Taylor. The Scottish boxer also holds the IBF and WBA titles.
Zepeda has wins in his recent bouts, including wins over Ivan Baranchyk, Jose Pedraza and Josue Vargas. The American holds the WBC silver belt at super lightweight.
