Alen Babich (9-0, 9 KOs) weighs just over 200 pounds, but so far he's had all of his fights at heavyweights. The Savage is now targeting the WBC's inaugural bridgerweight champion Oscar Rivas (28-1, 19 KOs).
On Saturday, the Croatian handled Eric Molina in less than five minutes. For his part, the Colombian defeated Ryan Rozicki eight days earlier to win his first-ever title in a new weight class.
"Millions of rounds of sparring with strong players like Dillian White and Joe Joyce are behind me. I've never found myself on the floor, but I've never been really hurt. Sometimes the blows stunned me a little, but I never lost it. I have a granite jaw," claims Babic, who has probably put the conflict with his compatriot Filip Hrgovic behind and is looking in a different direction.
"I'd like to fight Rivas for the new WBC belt, probably now, in my next fight," stated Babich. His enthusiasm, however, is not shared by promoter Eddie Hearn, who suggests that perhaps the aforementioned Rozicki would be a better option for him.
