Bellator president Scott Coker spoke out about the possible return of Alexander Shlemenko to the promotion and even named two potential opponents for the Russian.
"Shlemenko? When I came to Bellator, Alexander was the organization's champion. The only reason why he doesn't fight for us now is because his contract ran out. We couldn't agree on an extension, but now we have interest in bringing Alexander back, but so far there are some difficulties in negotiations.
"I think we even have a fight in mind for him as well. Mousasi and Vanderford fight coming up, so we could have Shlemenko fight the winner of that pairing. If we go back to Russia next summer, such a fight involving Shlemenko would be very interesting," Coker said.
Shlemenko previously held the Bellator middleweight title. The 37-year-old Russian had his last fight on October 17 at EFC 42 in Sochi, defeating Artur Guseinov on points.
