"There won't be a fourth fight! I will knock him out and end this chapter," Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) claimed a few days ago, but lost again to Tyson Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) and now claims he'd love to get in the same ring with him again.
After a draw in the first fight, "The Gypsy King" stopped the American early in the second and third, in the seventh and eleventh rounds respectively. To Wilder's credit, it should be noted that the Englishman has been on the floor four times in this trilogy. Their third fight was one of the best in heavyweight history.
"Deontay would like to get in the ring with him for a fourth time," said Shelley Finkel, Wilder's manager, who defended his heavyweight title ten times before losing it to Fury.
"Deontay is still motivated by big fights and would like to face Fury again. However, we understand that they would prefer other opponents now. On the other hand, apart from Joshua's rematch with Usik, Fury doesn't have many interesting options," Finkel continued.
"In the third round, Deontay missed a hard punch to the ear. At that point, his legs went haywire, even though he trained very hard. In addition, he injured his right hand in the middle rounds. "When he recovers, he will be aiming for the next part of the clash with Fury," the Bronze Bomber manager added.
Team Wilder has already announced the former champion's return sometime next May/June.
