Sandor Martin defeats Mikey Garcia

European titleholder Spaniard Sandor Martin (39-2, 13 KOs) scored a sensational majority decision victory over former four-weight world champion Mikey Garcia (40-2 30 KOs) of US in the evening's main event at Chequencyy Park Baseball Stadium in Fresno, Calif. The score of the judges' were 95-95 and twice 97-93.

Garcia's downtime prior to the bout was over a year and a half, and the American looked clearly not at his best. Before the fight Garcia was considered an undisputed 25-1 favourite. The meeting took place at an interim weight of 145 pounds (65.77 kg). There was no rematch clause in the contract for the bout. Garcia earned $1.5 million for the bout. Martin's fee, according to official figures, was $150,000.
