Navarrete defeates Gonzalez, defends WBO title

Emanuel Navarrete (35-1, 29 KOs) defeated Joet Gonzalez (24-2, 14 KOs) by unanimous decision in the main event of the evening in San Diego. In doing so, the Mexican defended his WBO title.

After twelve rounds, the judges counted 118-110 and twice 116-112 in favor of the World Boxing Organization champion. From the second round, Gonzalez boxed with a dissection under his right eye. Navarrete earned $550,000 for his performance and $185,000 went to his opponent.

At the same gala, welterweight Giovanni Santillan (28-0, 15 KOs) defeated Angel Ruiz (17-2, 12 KOs)  by unanimous decision. After twelve rounds, the judges counted it 99-91 and twice 100-90.
