Since Saturday the boxing world has been buzzing with excitement as Tyson Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) and Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) clashed for the WBC light heavyweight title on. However, the promoter of WBA, WBO and IBF belt holder Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KO) Alexander Krassyuk takes a more critical look at the "Gypsy King" and "Bronze Bomber" bout. Krassyuk claims that the bout was not at the highest technical level.
"Well, Fury won and he deserved it, but I didn't like Wilder. He put on too much weight, which made him look bad. He looked really awful because he couldn't handle that weight, which he didn't have time to get used to. He was exhausted in the fourth round and struggled to survive the rest of the fight," Krassyuk told The Sun.
"On the other hand, Fury looked better with the bigger weight, moved more fluidly and was in better shape. However, I don't admire his win because Wilder was already dead after the fourth round. Fury needed a full six rounds to stop him, he wasn't trying to box him, he wanted to knock Wilder out and hurt him," said Usyk's promoter. "Both Fury and Wilder in the same form as Saturday would have been a sweet dessert for Alexander because neither of them showed boxing skills. I doubt either of them could have done anything to Usyk with their skills."
